The historic downtown area of Barnegat is home to a variety of antique shoppes, restaurants and cafes, and The Gold Duster. The buildings along East Bay Avenue are steeped in history, and a few of the grand old homes are said to be haunted by their original owners.

A visit to "The Gold Duster" on the corner of Route 9 and Bay Avenue in Barnegat is pure joy to the senses. Strolling through the several rooms filled with nautical, seashore, and wildlife art is a true escape from the daily grind. Soft music and scents fill the air with an almost mystical feeling ithis instant vacation for the mind and soul.

Ever-changing items of brass, cast iron, glass, wood, even wire sculptings can be found here. Dolphins and Swordfish, pelicans and storks, lobsters and crabs, seashells and seaglass - the list is endless - are but a few of the coastal offerings created in a plethora of mediums. If nautical items are your favorite, you'll find ship's clocks, ship's wheels, hand made model schooners, sextants, and much more.

If you're a collector of frogs f (like me) or lizards, you'll find something special here, sure to become the highlight of your collection!

This tree, along with several others on display, is created with wire.

An alcove filled with beautiful and reasonably priced cast iron art kept my attention for a long time.

Are you looking for a local artist to turn that special photo into a work of art? Take a look at the the displayed artwork of Karen Matthews, and you'll know she'll create a wonderful work of art for you, or purchase one of several on display.
