13th
Annual Pine Barrens Jamboree!
October 13, 2007
|
|
The
Piney Gods were smiling down upon us once again by giving
everyone a perfect Autumn day for this wonderful event. Everyone
at the Jamboree was in a festive mood, and why not? Great
music, good food and good friends all were together in one
place!
|
|

Sunny skies and gentle breezes greeted visitors.
|

Although it was cool, the sun was hot, and the large tents
supplied by Ocean County provided shade.
|

Then there was the music - all day long! Many of the "regulars"
from Albert Music Hall/Pinelands Cultural Society were out to
play. |

The "Jammin' Tent" is a delight to watch! |
|

Nikki Giberson brought her handmade baskets and jams.
|

There was something for everyone!
|
|

Lots of handmade items here!
|

Erin of Headley Farm kept busy packing up freshly harvested
cranberries for sale!
|

The fall harvest was evident here, with apples,
pumpkins, cornstalks and much more.
|

The NJ Forest Fire Service has a large presence at the Jamboree.
|
|

"Jersey Devil" mugs...
|

...and statues!
|

The Ocean County Mosquito Commission brought along their Super-Skeeter!
|

Joe Pirozek of Parkday.org
was busy talking about parks across the state. |

Many non-profit organizations were under
the big tent, such as FRMC, PPA, NJ Pinelands Commssion,
Ocean County Historical Society, Jersey Shore Bottle Club,
and many more!

This
year's Jamboree was held in memory of Lynn Hunt, an avid
naturalist who was active in many conservation organizations,
including the Tuckerton Seaport, Ocean Nature and Conservation
Society, The Nature Conservancy, and more. He was the first
dues-paying member of the Pinelands Preservation Alliance
and an expert birder. His contributions were many, and he
will be missed by his friends at Wells Mills and elsewhere.
A
tribute was also made to Jack Macri, an employee and volunteer
for Ocean County for almost 30 years. I knew Jack, and he
was a wonderful and happy person. He was always the one
who came up with inventive ideas, such as squirrel-proof
feeders, and they always worked. Everyone - - and I mean
everyone - - thought the world of Jack; he will be
sorely missed by all.
